Myrtle Beach

We spent a week at Myrtle Beach. It was the first time we had been there. We love going to Rehoboth and Dewey every year, but we thought it would be fun to try something different. So, the five of us, along with my mom, headed out last Wednesday for the 7 hour trip. The kids did fine - what a hike it was! We stopped in North Carolina for some yummy bbq and of course we stopped at South of the Border. We finally made it to the hotel around 5:00. When we arrived it was like the Griswalds were there! We drove into the parking garage...forgetting about the car topper!! Thankfully, we just fit and we only scraped in one spot...OMG...we looked like such the tourists! Anyways, we had a very nice two bedroom suite - it was a time share that a friend of mine had sold to me. We were all the way up on the twelfth floor! Anyways, once we unpacked and settled in, we grabbed some delicious pizza at a local pizza shop.
There are so many things to do in Myrtle Beach...so we spent a lot of time on the beach...but we also did a lot of other things. We swam in the pool, went to the Ripley's Aquarium, ate dinner at Medieval Times, went miniature golfing-twice, ate some more, shopping, and ate a lot more!

We loved having the pool...we went night swimming a couple of times-which the kids loved! Those swimming lessons came in handy.

We ate dinner at Margaritaville, which was great fun. A man on stilts walked around and made balloon animals for the kids. Emma and Logan got dogs and Owen got a parrot that would actually sit on his shoulder.

South of the Border

We made a stop at South of the Border on our way to Myrtle Beach. What a hoot! The kids loved all of the cheesy animals and we even rode the elevator up to the top of the sombrero. It was good fun!

Camping - Lunga Park, Quantico

We went camping with the Boy Scouts again this weekend. This time we went to Lunga Park in Quantico, VA for two nights. We had so much fun once again! I don't know if it is the camping itself I enjoy or spending time with friends and family. The other families are so nice and it is wonderful to sit back and watch the kids just run and play all day long. This time we were near water so the kids got to go swimming. Everybody caught something and Owen became quite a serious fisherman! He was the last one out there and became quite skilled at trying to catch the biggest fish! Here he managed to catch one upside down (that was one dumb fish!)! It was warm and buggy - I have never seen so many ticks in my life!!! I think we must have pulled at least 50 ticks of of our family over the course of the two days - some in very interesting places! It stormed last night and the boys were terrified. We ran to the van and stayed in there for a while - what a scene we must have made - running through the rain, screaming children, hysterical at 10:30 at night - and we were the only ones! Anyways, we made it through the storm and everyone slept like babies....despite being wet. Once again...I didn't know if I would enjoy it, but I really did. I hope the kids have made some special memories camping - I know I have.

Great Wolf Lodge

Emma's girl scout troop sold enough cookies that they earned a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge. I went as a chaperone and we had a blast! The girls had fun swimming and playing in the water park and I had fun relaxing by the pool.

Are you Still There?

I know, I know...you've been wondering where we've been. Well...we've been playing baseball, softball and going to scouts. I've been working on end of the year school stuff including report cards, slide shows, and tons of paperwork...not to mention coaches gifts, a trip to New York, and the everyday tasks of life!!! We've been a little busy...but I wanted to try to squeeze in a few pictures.

We only have 4 more days of school - so hopefully the madness will end soon. I will post a few pictures now...but I promise, things will return to normal very soon - I hope!
